The editorial purpose of Salvadorans.org is to publish useful, understandable, and verifiable information for Salvadorans in the United States. In matters involving documents and government procedures, a small inaccuracy can result in an unnecessary trip, an incorrect payment, or preparation of the wrong document. For that reason, we try to distinguish clearly between published requirements and practical guidance.
Source Priority
For requirements, fees, laws, appointments, and procedures, we give priority to primary sources. These may include institutions of the Government of El Salvador, current legislation, the RNPN, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consulates, U.S. government agencies, vital records offices, and other organizations that directly administer the service being explained.
Secondary sources may help identify a topic or indicate where further research is needed, but they should not replace an available official source when a claim can be verified directly.
Information That Can Change
Consular and administrative requirements are not static. Appointment systems change, some services move online, new fees are introduced, and an office may revise how it provides a service.
When information depends on time, we try to include enough context for readers to understand what version of the procedure they are reading. If official sources appear to conflict, or an older government page remains online beside newer instructions, we try to explain the difference rather than hide it.
Facts, Guidance, and Individual Cases
A law allowing a procedure does not necessarily mean that every case can be completed with exactly the same documents. We try to keep that distinction clear.
Words such as “may,” “generally,” “check,” or “confirm” are used when there is genuine variation based on the office, the documents presented, or the applicant’s circumstances. We do not treat one person’s experience as evidence of a nationwide rule without additional support.
Corrections
If we discover that an important requirement, link, fee, date, or explanation is incorrect, the content may be corrected. When a change materially affects the usefulness of an article, its visible modification date may also be updated.
We do not change dates simply to make an article appear newer. An updated date should reflect an actual review or meaningful modification of the content.
Editorial Independence
Salvadorans.org is not an official Government of El Salvador website and does not represent consulates, embassies, or public agencies. Institutions referenced in our guides do not review or approve our articles unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Advertising also does not determine the editorial conclusions presented in a guide. Advertising and informational content serve separate purposes.

We link directly to official sources when doing so helps a reader verify a statement, request a document, or continue a procedure. An external link is not a permanent guarantee regarding the content of another website, because the organization responsible for that site may change it without notice.
